This special celebrates mentoring initiatives and activities of black male celebrities, business entrepreneurs, educators, political and community leaders. Exploring how these men have become mentoring kings. Seeking to discover a solution, we reveal men who have successfully built their careers from the ground up and have reached back to bring the youth along. This program tells in-depth stories of black men who have played a major role (with sizable results in mentoring), that ultimately leads our black youth to making positive contributions in their community.

General Johnny Davis

Major General Johnny Davis

Maj. Gen. Johnny K. Davis was commissioned from New Mexico Military Institute in 1989 through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps Early Commissioning Program and earned his Bachelor of Science from Cardinal Stritch University. He began his career with the 24th Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. After deployment to Afghanistan – Operation Enduring Freedom 10 and Iraq – Operation New Dawn, he transitioned to the Pentagon, serving as Aide to the Army Vice Chief of Staff.

Professor Unique Gathings

Head Instructor of Combatzone Brazilian Jiu Jitsu- MMA- Muay Thai, Unique L Gathings, is a Blackbelt in jiujitsu, and also has many years in Muay Thai, Wrestling and Boxing. Mr. Gathings was a part of the navy’s jiujitsu team and Team Renzo Gracie, and a former member of gracie barra in Chicago and Champion Jiujitsu. Combatzone Brazilian Jiu Jitsu- MMA- Muay Thai is a 11,500 square foot gym, and one of the largest in the Chicagoland area.

Yaba Baker

Yaba Baker

Yaba Baker produces books, half-hour cartoons, and animated movies featuring characters of color. Yaba followed up the successful Just Like Me Book Series with the creation of one of the first Black princess stories in America, Princess Briana in 2003. His first script about Princess Briana won 2nd runner-up in Hollywood Black Film Festival. In 2004, Yaba released the Princess Briana book that inspired girls around the world with a special focus on African American girls to love the skin they are in.

Doug Williams

DougWilliams

Doug Williams is Senior Advisor to Washington Commanders President Jason Wright. Previously, Doug served as Washington's senior vice president of player development. Doug, a member of the 80 Greatest Washington players and franchise's Ring of Fame, played with the team from 1986 - 89 and led Washington to a Super Bowl XXII title, which was a 42 - 10 rout of the Denver Broncos. The first African - American quarterback to play in a Super Bowl.
